The recently founded Central Asia Archaeological Group (CAAG) is the first non-government organization on the territory of Uzbekistan, which tries to join the best historians and archaeologists from the whole Central Asia Region. The founder of CAAG is Dr. Vladimir A. Karasev.

In the course of their work they have been able to gather significant quantities of unique and valuable information about the exciting and often mysterious history of this region. However, hundreds of questions remain unsolved, and as Uzbekistan modernizes many valuable memorials are being destroyed. Unique historical memorials with their significant meaning for our world’s history are leaving us forever. It is not a secret that archaeologists and scientists of the republics of the former USSR live and work in very poor conditions. CAAG’s main goal is to help them to stabilize their financial position as well as to enable them to continue their very valuable work to the highest level. They do not have any support from the government and funding comes from sponsors’ help.

In an attempt to share the knowledge of leading researchers in the region and worldwide, a new journal, “EPOCH” is being produced. This will give an opportunity to scientists of Uzbekistan as well as from other countries to receive new information about the history and archaeology of Central Asia as well as from whole over the world. It is hoped that the magazine will help find more people and organizations in different countries to help support the CAAG’s Silk Road projects.

The Silk Road Society UK is encouraging you to support this worthwhile group and its magazine in whatever way you can be it financial or through provision of material.
